Ok, well i've finished the exhaust sytem, will take some pics tomorrow. Took a bit of time having to tig weld it, but came out well. So now just have to hook up the tacho to the factory dash one, tidy a few other bits up, then off to PPRE for a tune on te 29th april. FINALLY!!

Finished the exhaust today, came out all good. The muffler has a 7" barrel and a 5" tip :) and i managed to turn the mixtures down with the hand controller to lean it out a bit and managed to get it started again, sounds really nice, has a nice deep purr haha
Also just gave the interior a vacuum out, passenger and back seats back in, and connected the tacho up.
Pretty much done, just gotta get it tuned :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin:

not alot, smoked the dyno room out and oil pressed dropped away while tuning. pulled the pin and came home. pulled the motor out today and took the sump and front cover off, didnt see anything wrong with the pick-up, pump or the o-ring between the front cover and plate. Looked in the exhaust ports and saw the rear rotor was quite damp/shiny with oil, that explains the smoke.
Oil pressure... another issue somewhere.

Unhappy to say the least

umm fuel rail from some crowd in lower hutt, can't remember who, google fuel rail excursion... got all my fittings from STA in auckland.

Car is on the back-burner till the motor gets rebuilt... Probly getting a kit from the states, good selection over there... While its apart getting an extend port done.

Update soon

OK, finally things are getting done for the rebuild. Made up some bosses to press out the old stat gear/rotor bearings and install the nice new ones. Cleaned all the housing and plates... Booked some time off work end of this month to assemble it, so early august i'll be rolling again, oh yea :icon_cheesygrin:

Prepping the motor for assembly next week, painted the plates and housings again, wanted a change while it was apart.
All I need now is a 12a front cover and i'll be sorted.

Well, today off work, had a productive day in the shed :D Managed to get the shortblock built-up good as gold. Wasn't really too hard, just a few tricky parts, and a bit fiddly clearancing the side-seals, but the rest of it was good as gold.
Replaced all the apex seals and springs, side seals/springs, oil o-rings and springs and gas/water seals.

A few pics.
Image
Got both the rotors prepped with o-rings installed

Image
Housings installed with rotor sitting inplace, about to install apexs

Image

Image
Installing the apexs, fiddly but do-able

Image

Image

Image
Middle plate installed, that was a bitch but got it sorted

Image
Rotor number 2

Image
Apexs and corner seals done, ready for rear end plate.

Image
Finished product, just need a front cover (hopefully this week) and fit pick-up and sump

Image
Mesured the end-float had 0.06mm, good as gold!

So now need to complete the engine, fit to car, connect up the dual-stage boost controller I got, then start it up and re-tune :icon_cheesygrin:

Righto, had a big day yesterday, after i found where the courier had "left" the front cover i was waiting on, i put it along with the sump onto the engine, and started piecing the enginebay back together (about the 10th time i've done this i swear!).
finished up about 4pm i think, stole the battery from the work ute, turned the key and it spluttered into life, first pop!! (this is after turning it over with no sparkys installed and no ignition hooked up to build up oil pressure first). Very happy, with the engine running with next to f-all smoke (this time) all things are looking good.
Sounds awesome with just the dump-pipe exiting by the gearbox :icon_twisted: Has a nice high oil pressure when cold (95+psi), and drops to about 60psi when idling (2000rpm at the moment).
Have been in touch with PPRE and booked a time next tuesday for a tune, hope all goes well this time!

Pic of new colour scheme, still have to wire up the boost controller on the RHS

ok... i would love to tell you man, but, i really don't wanna write this number down, because then it becomes "real" and i dont think i could handle that fact. :icon_eek: the last thing i need is for the mrs to find out either (head would be on the floor)
Although, i'm thinking about the entire car... for turbo conversion... maybe 4-5g? cricky, even that number is scary...

And HELL YES i'm looking forward to taking it out!!! :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin: :icon_cheesygrin:

Left for Wanga's today, cracker day, off to a good start!
Unloaded, they sorted out the timing and mixtures for the idle, then we left them to it for about an hour.
Driving back past the workshop we hear this amazing loud roaring with a hint of gilly whine, and the sevs going nuts! haha
Tuned up good as gold, no horrible smoke this time either :icon_razz: After more tuning Gareth managed to get 281hp at 10psi, very happy with that! It does start to run out of legs about 7g due to the exhaust housing being a tad small, BUT it does have full boost quite low revs at 4g, which hopefully works in my favour with the trackwork i've got in mind.
Flames everywhere, external w/gate screaming its ring out... Heaven! haha
Just gotta do about 1000kms for the run-in, then back over for some street tuning and sort out the high boost setting.
Image
Image

Took it for a skid round palmy this afternoon, amazing! Popped the bonnet just before putting it away and noticed the brakemaster area was, rather warm :icon_wink: so i managed to whip up a stainless heatshield before the light disappeared, should hopefully do the job.

i'm planning on wrapping the down-pipe soon to try and keep temps more, will tidy up the engine bay a bit more too.
Very stoaked with the hp at 10psi, bigger and better things to come :D
